St Anne's (Lytham)

Started by: Billinge Biker (2384)

Just returned from a weekend soiree with four other couples...stayed at the Travelodge in the town centre. What a lovely place it is...Very clean...no deadlegs...plenty of shops and pubs and eating places...plus the pier and beach...a little gem so near to Grottsville Blackpool. Well worth a stay

Yes, it is one of my favourite places within a hours drive. I love the place and so much different to the nearby chaos of Blackpool. So relaxed. I had the good fortune to be commissioned to advise on the conservation of the promenade gardens and prepared a 10 year conservation management plan. Fylde Council are great to work with and have very realistic plans/aspirations for the area.

Grottsville Blackpool.? How dare you sir, I wish I could put up a reasonable defence but that would be very difficult.

Saying St.Anne’s (Lytham) is like saying Shevington (Standish). It’s either one or the other!

Had many a pint of the black gold last night....different animal from the UK brew. Day of rest today...foot patrol around Ballycastle. ???? Last night waiting at the taxi rank ....no taxi's about...a local lady using a nearby shop had seen us waiting...on her exit...she hailed No Taxis ! Jump in I'll take ye....where to ? Was only half a mile but what a lovely gesture...have arranged to meet up with her and family next week...marvellous...would I get that in Wigan..? Don't think so.

Tonker... "Saying St.Anne’s (Lytham) is like saying Shevington (Standish). It’s either one or the other!"
Yes, I have to agree. People refer to the 2 areas as Lytham St Annes. Locals will tell you they are two completely different towns - in respect of geography and ambience. Both nice but much confusion for tourists (but quite obvious if you've walked the prom between the 2 towns).
Both are nice to visit but don't say Lytham St Anne's to locals. It's like saying Heysham instead of Heesham to locals near Morcambe!
